FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS…

As his first job at age 13, George cleaned all the factory floors of Budleigh Pate for £5 a day. Little did he know this wouldn’t be the last he’d see of the Budleigh Pate building…

GEORGIE PORGIE’S
PUDDINGS BEGINS

George Hollywood creates Georgie Porgie’s Puddings, making traditional steamed Christmas Puddings while working part-time in the chutney factory that took over the building from Budleigh Pate.

Getting A
Kick-Start

George was ready to make a year-round business. To achieve this he applied for a Prince’s Youth Business Trust loan, being awarded it alongside a Live Wire Award.

February 1997

A HOME FOR GEORGIE PORGIE’S

With his business loan secured and the orders coming in fast, George was ready to move Georgie Porgie’s Puddings into its’ own building in Ottery St. Mary. With a proper kitchen set up, he was able to really accelerate pudding production. Georgie Porgie’s Puddings wasn’t just a small-time operation anymore!

April 1997

THE ROYAL SEAL OF APPROVAL

With a new premises, George got to work on a new pudding, Cider and Apple. Launched for St George’s Day, 1000 were sold, one even going to the Queen herself! George has had more than a few meetings with members of the royal family, as you’ll see from some of the photos on this page!

A NEW PUD FOR A NEW MILLENNIUM

With the year 2000 fast approaching and help from the Prince’s Youth Business Trust George launched a brand new Pudding, Orange and Cointreau.

THE PROOF OF THE PUDDING…

By the end of the year George was selling over 10,000 Christmas puddings every Christmas, and enjoying great success with the year-round fruit puddings.

MARCH 2001

ADDING SPONGES TO OUR MENU

For 2001 George broadened the scope of our delicious treats, creating a range of steamed puddings in 4 flavours: Toffee, Treacle, Strawberry Jam & Spotted Dick. Much like our puddings, we steam our puddings in the traditional way, giving them a unique and delicious flavour you won’t find anywhere else.

MAY 2003

“IT WAS A BIT MAD, WASN’T IT?”

During a visit from the Prince of Wales, George learned that his puddings were good for more than just eating. The Prince decided they were the perfect size and shape for a new sport… pudding throwing!

Puddings on the web

With the opening of our online shop we were able to start taking orders online, rather than just by form or phone. We’ve upgraded a number of times since then!

APRIL 2004

A Perfect Pudding for summer

With the season of garden parties fast approaching, Georgie released his latest creation with a summertime twist. The Lemon and Pimms pudding was immediately popular, and the zesty, fruity flavour makes it perfect for the warmer months!

SEPTEMBER 2017

A brand new site

With Georgie Porgie’s Puddings growing and more orders coming in every year, we went back to the drawing board and remade our site from scratch. No matter what you’re after our snazzy new site can handle it, from building your own custom pudding packs to browsing our history. We hope you like it!

A bUMPER YEAR

2017 was a record-breaking year for Georgie Porgie’s puddings, in 2016 we made around 85,000 puddings while in 2017 we smashed that target and made over 100,000 puddings!

THE STORY DOESN’T END THERE…

With all this experience under our belt, Georgie Porgie’s Puddings is still always on the look out to make our puddings even better. We’re currently in the planning stages for our exciting developments for the Georgie Porgie kitchens, refurbishing and moving into the Budleigh Pate building! Besides this you never know when George will be struck with inspiration for a new delicious pudding!
