The best Brandy butter

It’s almost that time of year again! Soon we will all be indulging in mince pies and steamed puddings, and what better way to eat them than with a dollop of delicious brandy butter. Why not try this quick recipe the next time you treat yourself to one of George’s award-winning puds.

You will need:

  • 110g unsalted butter
  • 85g light muscovado sugar
  • 85g icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp of brandy, or you could use whiskey, rum or sherry if you prefer


  • Beat the butter in a bowl until soft
  • Add the muscovado sugar
  • Sieve the icing sugar onto the mixture
  • Add your alcohol, a splash at a time so the mixture doesn’t curdle
  • Beat until smooth
